Photo Contest

I did the Photographics society photo contest on 6/24. The contest was entitles endurance so i decided to submit one of my bannack photos.

Colorful Room: Bannak MT, 5/24/11,  2:12 pm, f/5.6, SS 1/15, ISO 100, Nikon D3000.

I chose this photo because i think it fit great into the category of endurance. That ghost town is very old yet people hung on and endured there until the 70’s. It alsoshows endurance because the colors and the over all structure is still standing after all these years. Even the ghosts have lingered.

This picture was taken on our trip to Bannack Ghost Town. I was in one of the buildings and i saw a whole bunch of doorways and loved them. At first clance you can’t see much color but when you upp the saturation it all shows up. I probably should have had a higher ISO because it got kind of grainy when i lightened it up a bit. I had to do a lot of editing. I upped the saturation quite a bit and brushed in more light in the back room. I also in creased the clarity and blacks.

Fine Art

1. Tulips: 5/13/11, Rexburg ID, f/5.6, ss 1/200, ISO 100, Nikon D3000

I took this photo on a very rainy day. it was actually raining while i shot this one. As far as edits to the picture i upped the saturation and i did a paint adjustment of the background and made it more blurry and dark. I also sharpened the more in focus flowers. I created the fine art template in photoshop.

2. Victory Hug: 6/10/11, Rexburg ID, f/8, ss 1/250, ISO 100, Nikon D3000

This weekend was the Teton Dam Marathon. It was so much fun! My friends and i went to support my friend Chathum. This picture was taken right after he crossed the finish line and gave his mom a huge hug. Tender. As far as edits there were a few funky shadows that i masked out. I brightened up the colors a bit. I chose not to do any other edits because to me it was a very realy moment, nonscripted. He had just ran a marathon so i wanted the picture to reflect how hard he had worked. I did the template in photoshop
